Mercy mercy me

By admin | April 12, 2009

I sure am glad I’ve only gotta take the medications for one more day. I don’t think I could take much more! It’s been kicking my butt all week. Pretty much the only things I’ve been able to eat were Cheerios, bread and water. I tried to have a few more things, but my stomach didn’t like that too much. Between the times I felt I simply had to lie down and the times I spent communing with the deities of procelain, I spent the time cleaning and sanitizing my house several times. In fact, a little while ago, I cleaned my shower out for the third time in a week with bleach. I’ve also bleached most of the other surfaces I’ve contacted that I know can handle bleach (obviously a leather couch wouldn’t exactly be a good thing for cleaning with bleach), and basically tried to not go stir crazy in the process.

As for manana, I’m going to work. First off the bat, I’m going to head to Personnel Health to see what to do. I’m hoping they won’t send me home, but on the chance they don’t I’ll almost certainly need to be put on light duty until they get a confirmation that I’m not lugging around the infection anymore. If they do send me home, I’m not overly worried, since I still have two more full weeks of sick leave I can use up beyond what I’ll need for the last few days of work I’ve missed.

More than anything, I’m hoping to get this all behind me as soon as humanly possible, because I feel like total and utter crap from the meds, and plus, the whole Cheerios-bread-water thing is getting boring really fast.

I know how that goes — sometimes I talk about how long it takes to recover from the antibiotics. :P If you haven’t already, get yourself some probiotics, that’ll help some with the digestive system, and next time you’re on antibiotics, unless your doc tells you otherwise, get some probiotics and take them as far (temporally) from the antibiotics as possible. We recently had one kid on antibiotics at 8AM and 8PM, and dosed her with probiotics at noon and 4PM, and her digestive system was fine, which was a relief for everyone!
